On the occasion of Milano Design Week, within the installation Le Pied-à-Terre Cosmopolite at Nilufar, Studio Daniel K presents Vesperal Reflections: a collection that explores the most intimate dimension of living, where material becomes an emotional language and light reveals its deepest character.

Among the key elements of the project, the armchairs emerge as quiet yet defining presences.
It is here that textile takes center stage, transforming surface into narrative.

Déco Soprarizzo Velvet

Black Déco Velvet: A Memory in Motion

The armchairs are upholstered in a black velvet of remarkable depth, developed by Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua from an Art Deco design created between 1932 and 1934 by architect Carl Bergsten.

The motif originated as a study of movement: fluid lines, soft curves, and subtle contrasts that only emerge as the light shifts. It is not a pattern that asserts itself, but one that reveals itself gradually—like a reflection, like a gesture.

Translated into black velvet, the design sheds its original theatrical quality to enter a more intimate realm. The result is a textile that absorbs light during the day and releases it in the evening, becoming an integral part of the vesperal atmosphere envisioned by the project.

Lampasso Three Crowns: Rhythm and Identity

Alongside the Déco velvet, the Lampasso Three Crowns motif introduces a second textile reading—more graphic, more structured, yet equally refined.

Its geometry creates a visual rhythm that dialogues with the architecture of the armchairs, subtly emphasizing their form. If the velvet works through depth and light, Lampasso Three Crowns intervenes at the level of composition, establishing a balance between surface and structure.

The result is a carefully calibrated tension between decoration and form, softness and rigor.

The Armchair as an Intimate Object

In Studio Daniel K’s language, the armchair is not merely functional, but relational—an object that invites both pause and contemplation.

The dialogue between the black Déco velvet and Lampasso Three Crowns amplifies this dimension: the former invites touch, the latter guides the gaze. Together, they construct a complete sensory experience that unfolds especially in the evening hours, when light softens and surfaces begin to vibrate.

Material, Light, Atmosphere

In Vesperal Reflections, textile is never mere decoration. It is a narrative structure—what allows objects to transform throughout the day, accompanying the transition from public to private, from daylight to night.

The armchairs embody this vision perfectly: by day, silent sculptures; by night, living presences—intimate, tactile, and deeply domestic in the most profound sense.
