HANDMADE PRODUCTION

MECHANICAL PRODUCTION

Hand-woven velvets are our most precious creations. We still weave them on 18th-century looms, and even the warps are prepared on machines dating back to the same era, silent witnesses to an art that has survived the test of time. Among these extraordinary fabrics, the most precious is soprarizzo, also known as soprariccio or chiseled velvet. Its name evokes its distinctive structure: two layers of pile, one high and smooth, the other lower and curled.

Since the 1930s, manual production, which still takes place at the company’s historic headquarters overlooking the Grand Canal, has been complemented by mechanical production, always based on exclusive Bevilacqua designs, using special techniques to ensure the quality and prestige of the brand.
