This is the story of the Italian fabric for chairs we\u2019ve created for the Kremlin palace in Moscow, of all the efforts it took and of the sense of gratification it gave.<\/p>\n<p>[\/et_pb_text][\/et_pb_column][\/et_pb_row][et_pb_row admin_label=&#8221;Row&#8221;][et_pb_column type=&#8221;1_2&#8243;][et_pb_text admin_label=&#8221;Text&#8221; background_layout=&#8221;light&#8221; text_orientation=&#8221;left&#8221; use_border_color=&#8221;off&#8221; border_color=&#8221;#ffffff&#8221; border_style=&#8221;solid&#8221;]<\/p>\n<h2 style=\"text-align: left;\">Setting the loom<\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">When we were commissioned to make this upholstery velvet &#8211; namely to cover some chairs &#8211; we didn\u2019t know if we could do that. We didn\u2019t have any loom ready to take on such a challenge.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The model our customers had shown us was a French pattern dating <strong>back to 250 years ago<\/strong>, similar to our <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luigi-bevilacqua.com\/en\/project\/soprarizzo-grottesche-velvet\/\" target=\"_blank\">Grottesche velvet<\/a>, which you can see here. The only problem was that the loom used to produce it had been standing idle for 50 years.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Our technicians had to rack their brains to understand how to set the machine, the punched cards for the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.luigi-bevilacqua.com\/en\/what-is-a-jacquard-loom\/\" target=\"_blank\">Jacquard loom<\/a> and the threads\u2019 spools.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">After solving this problem, our weavers had to arm themselves with patience: even if the colours where only 2 &#8211; green and yellow &#8211; they had to put on the loom no less than <strong>16.000 threads<\/strong>. Why were there so many? Nobody could do that for 8 hours non-stop. So this loom saw the alternation of 2 weavers, working as similarly as possible.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The result is something that keeps on amazing us even now, with: the height of the pile, the elaborate design and the different colours it produces when stroking it &#8211; turning from yellow and green to brown.
