They live in the memories of those who have spent a lifetime among looms, in the hands that have learned an ancient craft, in the emotions preserved by those who have contributed, day after day, to creating our textiles.<\/p>\n<p>For this reason, we have chosen to collect, in the <a href=\"https:\/\/archivio.luigi-bevilacqua.com\/en\/\">Archive section<\/a>, the testimonies of the women who have been part of the history of the Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua. Their words have reached us through <strong>direct<\/strong> <strong>interviews<\/strong>, carefully preserved, because they represent a heritage as precious as the textiles themselves.<\/p>\n<p>This is not an exercise in nostalgia. It is our archive in its most authentic expression. Giving these people a voice means telling, in the sincerest way, what a handmade textile truly represents.<\/p>\n<p>The stories of these women share a <strong>profound sense of belonging to Bevilacqua<\/strong>, born and nurtured among the looms. Many of them began working when they were very young, at just twelve years old. In the second half of the 1950s, for those who did not continue their studies, entering the workforce was a natural step in Italy. Their mothers accompanied them during their first days, staying by their side until they felt confident. Then came their colleagues, many of them the same age, with whom they shared work, breaks, laughter, and their first friendships. In this way, the Tessitura became almost <strong>a second family<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Their stories bring back intense years, marked by commitment and sacrifice, but also by serenity, pride in a finished piece of work, and the emotion of seeing their <strong>textiles destined for popes, queens, and important international commissions<\/strong>. One prepared the threads, the other transformed them into textiles. Together, they recount everyday life at the Bevilacqua weaving mill through memories of work, passion, and a deep sense of belonging.<\/p>\n<h2>Silvana Bussolin<\/h2>\n<blockquote>\n<p>\u201cIt was summertime, and when I went up to the offices, I was trembling like a leaf. I will always remember it\u2026 There were girls as young as I because, back in those days, at the end of the 1950s, people started working at twelve years old. Either you continued your studies, or you had to find a job. Here, I met eight girls my age: we are still friends today. It was the beginning of a great adventure.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI joined Bevilacqua accompanied by my mother and by a friend who already knew the work of the weaving mill. At that time, all liturgical vestments were made with Bevilacqua textiles.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>At the beginning of the 20th century, Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua began a long and significant <strong>collaboration with the Church<\/strong>, creating textiles for sacred furnishings and liturgical vestments destined for<strong> churches, basilicas, convents, and the Vatican<\/strong>. Then, as you grew and learned little by little, you would be \u2018under a boss\u2019 and truly begin the craft of weaving. The first tools, the first cut\u2026 your hands were trembling. There was a small blade, and you had to find the right groove, cut, and pull out the soprarizzo rod. Little by little, you learned. I think that by the age of seventeen or eighteen, I was already working at the loom.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p><strong>Soprarizzo velvet<\/strong>, one of the <strong>most precious textiles in the world<\/strong>, is created through an extraordinarily complex process that is still carried out today on 18th-century hand looms. I think it was a design called \u2018Tartaruga\u2019, because it really looked like a turtle shell.\u201d<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>In 1950, a long collaboration began between Giulio Bevilacqua and Giuliana Coen, known as <strong>Roberta di Camerino<\/strong>, which would go on to mark the history of Venetian craftsmanship. The parish priest told me: \u2018I know Bevilacqua. I\u2019ll write a letter for you; go and see if you like it and if they need someone.\u2019 I came here, and they were looking for girls for daily work, not to weave, but to prepare everything needed for production: I prepared the warps, the bobbins, and I tied the cotton threads, while the silk threads were glued one by one. To glue a thousand threads took about an hour, but the warps could have as many as nine thousand threads. Vivono nei ricordi di chi ha trascorso una vita tra i telai, nelle mani che hanno imparato un mestiere antico, nelle emozioni custodite da chi ha contribuito, giorno dopo giorno, a creare i nostri tessuti.<\/p><p>Per questo abbiamo scelto di raccogliere, nella <a href=\"https:\/\/archivio.luigi-bevilacqua.com\/\">sezione Archivio<\/a>, le testimonianze delle donne che hanno fatto parte della storia della Tessitura Luigi Bevilacqua. Le loro parole ci sono giunte attraverso <strong>interviste dirette<\/strong>, conservate con la massima cura, perch\u00e9 sono parte di un patrimonio prezioso quanto i tessuti stessi.<\/p><p>Non \u00e8 un esercizio di nostalgia. \u00c8 il nostro archivio nella sua espressione pi\u00f9 autentica. Dare voce a queste persone significa raccontare, nel modo pi\u00f9 sincero, che cosa sia davvero un tessuto realizzato a mano.<\/p><p>Le storie di queste donne condividono un profondo <strong>senso di appartenenza alla Bevilacqua<\/strong>, nato e cresciuto tra i telai. Molte di loro hanno iniziato giovanissime, a soli dodici anni. Nella seconda met\u00e0 degli anni Cinquanta, per chi non proseguiva gli studi, entrare nel mondo del lavoro era un passaggio naturale. Le madri le accompagnavano nei primi giorni, restando accanto a loro finch\u00e9 non si sentivano sicure. Poi arrivavano le compagne, tante coetanee con cui condividere il lavoro, le pause, le risate e le prime amicizie. Cos\u00ec la Tessitura diventava quasi<strong> una seconda famiglia<\/strong>.<\/p><p>Nei loro racconti riaffiorano anni intensi, fatti di impegno e sacrificio, ma anche di serenit\u00e0, di orgoglio per il lavoro concluso, dell'<strong>emozione nel vedere i propri tessuti destinati a papi, regine e importanti committenze internazionali<\/strong>. Una preparava i fili, l'altra li trasformava in tessuto. Insieme raccontano la vita quotidiana della Tessitura Bevilacqua attraverso ricordi che parlano di lavoro, passione e appartenenza.<\/p><h2>Silvana Bussolin<\/h2><blockquote><p>\"Era d'estate e quando sono andata su negli uffici tremavo come una foglia. Me lo ricorder\u00f2 sempre... C'erano ragazze piccole come me perch\u00e9, a quei tempi, verso la fine degli anni Cinquanta, si iniziava a lavorare a dodici anni. O studiavi oppure dovevi trovarti un lavoro. Qui ho conosciuto otto mie coetanee: siamo ancora amiche oggi. \u00c8 stato l'inizio di una grande avventura.\"<\/p><p>\"Sono entrata qui da Bevilacqua accompagnata da mia mamma e da un'amica che conosceva gi\u00e0 il lavoro della Tessitura. A quei tempi tutti i paramenti sacri erano realizzati con i tessuti Bevilacqua.\"<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Agli inizi del Novecento la Tessitura avvi\u00f2 una lunga e significativa collaborazione con la Chiesa, realizzando tessuti per l'arredo sacro e paramenti liturgici destinati a chiese, basiliche, conventi e al Vaticano. Poi, crescendo e imparando poco alla volta, si diventava 'sotto padrona' e si cominciava davvero il mestiere della tessitrice. I primi ferri, il primo taglio... le mani tremavano. C'era una piccola lama e bisognava trovare la canalina giusta, tagliare e tirare il ferro del soprarizzo. Piano piano si imparava. Credo che verso i diciassette o diciotto anni fossi gi\u00e0 al telaio.\"<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Il <strong>velluto soprarizzo<\/strong>, tra i tessuti pi\u00f9 preziosi al mondo, nasce da una lavorazione di straordinaria complessit\u00e0 eseguita ancora oggi sui telai manuali del Settecento. C'erano Enrico Maria Salerno, Florinda Bolkan e Tony Musante... E ci sono finita anch'io nel film! Allora lavoravo al terzo piano e stavamo realizzando un tessuto per Roberta di Camerino. Mi pare fosse un disegno chiamato 'Tartaruga', perch\u00e9 ricordava proprio il carapace.\"<\/p><\/blockquote><p>Dal 1950 prese avvio una lunga collaborazione tra Giulio Bevilacqua e Giuliana Coen, ovvero Roberta di Camerino, destinata a segnare la storia dell'artigianato veneziano. Sono venuta qui e cercavano ragazze 'di giornata', non per tessere ma per preparare tutto il lavoro: facevo gli orditi, le bobine, annodavo quelli di cotone e quelli di seta venivano incollati filo per filo. Per incollare mille fili serviva circa un'ora, ma gli orditi arrivavano anche a novemila fili. Poi \u00e8 arrivata Mariella a tessere davanti ai visitatori. \u00c8 stata una soddisfazione enorme. Pensavamo: 'Come faremo mai a portare un telaio fin l\u00ec?'
