Our fabrics often take up the characteristic decorative motifs of past eras that are kept in our historical archives. But for 2022 we are also proposing new original designs and new colors: we would like to present them to you.<\/p>\n

NEW ART DECO DESIGNS FOR LUXURY VELVET UPHOLSTERY FABRICS<\/h2>\n

Art Deco identifies an artistic style<\/a> that characterized the early years of the 20th century. The term was coined in 1925 but already in the early years of the century those stylistic characteristics that defined it were evident: geometric lines, wide, broken, dynamic, and full, which aimed to embody the idea of movement and the power of machines that many saw as the glorious future of humanity. This was combined with the use of fine and rare materials to establish an opulent and luxurious style. The inspiration came from many artistic sources: futurism, cubism, primitive arts, but their mixture was absolutely innovative because they wanted to cut the past and the ‘old’ to open the doors to modernity.<\/p>\n

THE MASTER OF ARTS EMANUELE BEVILACQUA<\/h2>\n

The Art Deco style inspired the creation of most of our new fabric designs, by our technical director Emanuele Bevilacqua, a member of the Bevilacqua family, a master of arts and designer. In 2016, he received the MAM-Master of Arts and Crafts award, sponsored by the Fondazione Cologni, at the Milan Triennale. He is the heir of a very noble and precious tradition learned directly from the teaching of the last great Venetian master, Angelo Falomo, that of Venetian worked velvet. Emanuele follows the creative development of the collections, from the sketch to the drawing on graph paper up to the creation of the perforated cards for the Jacquard machines of our laboratory, those that allow the realization of our handmade velvets<\/a>.<\/p>\n

Thanks to his experience and sensitivity, Emanuele Bevilacqua has created exclusive designs for our new velvets: Capri, Lune, and Fontane.<\/p>\n

Capri Velvet<\/h2>\n

The Capri velvet<\/a> is inspired by the seabed of one of the most beautiful Italian islands and recalls elements of the Art Deco period. The silhouettes of corals create a vertical movement on the pattern and stand out against a background in which geometries and shades create different depths. An orderly compositional structure in which the repetition of individual elements creates dynamism.

Lune Velvet<\/h2>\n

The design of Lune velvet<\/a> reflects all the energy, movement, and plasticity of the figures typical of Art Deco, the style from which it is inspired. Curved lines, sudden and broken plots, but at the same time orderly and harmonious, whose depth is highlighted by the play of light and shadow of the soft velvet pile.

Pigna Velvet<\/h2>\n

The refined Pigna velvet<\/a> pattern, which dates back to the 1400s, comes from our historical archives. Its orderly mesh composition, with large volumes, recalls stylized naturalistic elements: garlands of oak leaves, separated by a twisted cord, frame a pinecone surrounded by leaves and a slender shoot of acorns.

Nuovi disegni per velluti pregiati ispirati all\u2019Art D\u00e9co<\/h2>

Art D\u00e9co individua uno stile artistico<\/a> che ha caratterizzato i primi anni del XX secolo. Il termine venne coniato nel 1925 ma gi\u00e0 da i primi anni del secolo erano evidenti quelle caratteristiche stilistiche che lo definirono: linee geometriche, ampie, spezzate, dinamiche e piene, che volevano incarnare l\u2019idea del movimento e della potenza delle macchine che molti vedevano come il futuro glorioso dell\u2019umanit\u00e0. A questo si univa l\u2019utilizzo di materiali pregiati e rari per affermare uno stile opulento e lussuoso. L\u2019ispirazione proveniva da molteplici fonti artistiche: il futurismo, il cubismo, le arti primitive, ma la loro commistione era assolutamente innovativa perch\u00e9 si voleva dare un taglio al passato e al \u2018vecchio\u2019 per aprire le porte alla modernit\u00e0.<\/p>

Il Maestro d'Arte Emanuele Bevilacqua<\/h2>

Lo stile Art D\u00e9co ha ispirato la creazione di gran parte dei nuovi disegni dei nostri tessuti, ad opera del nostro direttore tecnico Emanuele Bevilacqua, membro della famiglia Bevilacqua, maestro d\u2019arte e designer. Nel 2016 ha ricevuto il riconoscimento MAM-Maestro d\u2019Arte e Mestiere, promosso dalla Fondazione Cologni, presso la Triennale di Milano. Egli \u00e8 l\u2019erede di una tradizione nobilissima e preziosa appresa direttamente dall\u2019insegnamento dell\u2019ultimo grande maestro veneziano, Angelo Falomo, quella del velluto operato veneziano. Emanuele segue lo sviluppo creativo delle collezioni, dal bozzetto alla messincarta fino alla creazione delle schede preforate per le macchine Jaquard del nostro laboratorio, quelle che permettono la realizzazione dei nostri velluti a mano<\/a>.<\/p>

Il velluto Capri<\/a> si ispira ai fondali marini di una delle pi\u00f9 belle isole italiane e richiama elementi del periodo Art D\u00e9co. Le silhouette dei coralli \u00a0creano un movimento verticale sul disegno e si stagliano su uno sfondo in cui geometrie e sfumature creano profondit\u00e0 diverse. Una struttura compositiva ordinata in cui la ripetizione dei singoli elementi crea dinamicit\u00e0.<\/p>

Trame improvvise e spezzate, ma al contempo ordinate e armoniche, la cui profondit\u00e0 \u00e8 evidenziata dai giochi di luce ed ombra del morbido pelo di velluto.<\/p>

Proviene dal nostro archivio storico il raffinato motivo del velluto Pigna<\/a>, che risale al 1400. La sua composizione ordinata a maglie, con ampi volumi, riprende elementi naturalistici stilizzati: ghirlande di foglie di quercia, separate da un cordolo ritorto, incorniciano una pigna contornata da foglie e da un\u2019esile tralcio di ghiande.<\/p>
