A show revealing the splendour of the <em><strong>Sparkling trim<\/strong><\/em>. And much more.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">Gorizia\u2019s new Fashion Museum<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">\u201cSparkling trim\u201d (<em>Ornamento scintillante<\/em>) is the title of the exhibition which accompanied the Museum\u2019s opening. From strass to glass beads and sequin, a sparkle lights the visitors\u2019 path along the <a title=\"The velvet armour: Yiqing Yin\" href=\"http:\/\/www.luigi-bevilacqua.com\/news\/2014\/02\/the-velvet-armour\/?lang=en\" target=\"_blank\">evening dresses<\/a>, dating <strong>from the end of the 18th century to the 1920s<\/strong>. Discovering them literally means going from stage to stage, eventually reaching the multimedia room.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_419\" style=\"width: 682px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><a href=\"http:\/\/www.luigi-bevilacqua.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Museo-della-Moda672x3721.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-419\" class=\" wp-image-419 \" src=\"http:\/\/www.luigi-bevilacqua.com\/\/wp-content\/uploads\/2014\/04\/Museo-della-Moda672x3721.jpg\" alt=\"Fashion Museum Gorizia | Tessitura Bevilacqua\" width=\"672\" height=\"372\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-419\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Some of the dresses exhibited at the Museum<\/p><\/div>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">The <strong>new layout<\/strong> of one of the few Fashion Museums in Italy was made possible by European fundings related to the Open Museums project. The museum was ideated by Raffaella Sgubin, Superintendent of the Provincial Museums in Gorizia and costume historian, who collaborated with Roberta Orsi Landini and Thessy Schoenholzer Nichols, authorities on textile and clothing history, with an arrangement designed by the architect Lorenzo Greppi.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: left;\">The collection of the Fashion Museum<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">Two of the exhibited dresses belonged to <strong>Margaret Stonborough Wittgenstein<\/strong>, a friend of Sigmund Freud\u2019s, but maybe better known as the philosopher Ludwig Wittgenstein\u2019s sister and as the woman painted in her bridal dress by Gustav Klimt in 1905. Her clothes on show, though, date back to the Roaring Twenties, mirrored by their strong colours, being in black and emerald-green silk.<\/p>\n<p>This <a title=\"Fashion and Applied Arts Museum Gorizia\" href=\"https:\/\/www.gomuseums.net\/custom\/sez_museo.php?tipologia=&amp;comune=1&amp;nome=Fashion+and+Applied+Arts+Museum&amp;keyword=&amp;x=26&amp;y=1&amp;lang=&amp;id=60 \" target=\"_blank\">Museum<\/a> therefore aims at bearing witness to the important role played by silk production between the 18th and 19th century in <strong>Gorizia<\/strong>, not only through dresses, but rather through shoes, bags, hats, umbrellas and all things fashion, too.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: left;\">An old-fashioned taste, just as <strong>Dolce and Gabbana<\/strong>\u2019s typical one, whom Bevilacqua produced some velvets and a lampas for, in 2000, basing their work on some documents found in the company\u2019s historical archives. Textiles too, then, embody a cultural heritage which, according to Gianni Torrenti, Friuli Venezia Giulia\u2019s Councillor of Culture, we shouldn\u2019t give up.<\/p>\n<span
