Handgewebte Samtstoffe sind unsere kostbarsten Kreationen. Wir weben sie noch immer auf Webst\u00fchlen aus dem 18. Jahrhundert, und selbst die Kettf\u00e4den werden auf Maschinen aus derselben Epoche vorbereitet \u2013 stille Zeugen einer Kunst, die den Zahn der Zeit \u00fcberstanden hat. Unter diesen au\u00dfergew\u00f6hnlichen Stoffen ist der wertvollste der Soprarizzo, auch bekannt als \u201eSoprarizzo\u201c oder \u201emei\u00dfelgepr\u00e4gter Samt\u201c. Sein Name verweist auf seine unverwechselbare Struktur: zwei Florlagen, eine hoch und glatt, die andere niedriger und gekr\u00e4uselt. Kein mechanischer Webstuhl kann diesen Effekt nachbilden. WAS IST SOPRARIZZO-SAMT?<\/h2>\n

Der Soprarizzo-Samt ist der komplexeste unter den bearbeiteten Samtstoffen, da er aus einem oberen Schnitt-Samt, der das Muster definiert, und einem unteren Locken-Samt, der den Hintergrund bildet, besteht. Die beiden Schichten unterscheiden sich zudem in der Farbe: Der Schnitt-Samt ist dunkler, der Locken-Samt heller. Jeder Millimeter der ersten Schicht wird von den Webern von Hand geschnitten.<\/p>\n

WEBST\u00dcHLE UND MASCHINEN DES 18. JAHRHUNDERTS<\/h2>\n

Wir sind stolz darauf, handgefertigte Samtstoffe auf Webst\u00fchlen aus dem 18. Jahrhundert herzustellen \u2013 denselben Webst\u00fchlen, die Luigi Bevilacqua 1875 aus der Seidenschule der Serenissima gerettet hat. Auch f\u00fcr die Vorbereitung der Kettf\u00e4den verwenden wir dieselben Maschinen.<\/p>\n

DIE JACQUARD-MASCHINE<\/h2>\n

Anfangs wurden Webst\u00fchle von Hand bedient, was die Herstellung komplexer Stoffe zu einem zeitaufwendigen Prozess machte. Zu Beginn des 19. Jahrhunderts wurde jedoch die Jacquard-Maschine erfunden, die die Welt des Webens revolutionierte. Diese Maschine bewegt automatisch die Kettf\u00e4den, die das Muster bilden. W\u00e4hrend diese Innovation die Produktivit\u00e4t der Weber erheblich steigerte, bleibt der Herstellungsprozess von Soprarizzo-Samt nach wie vor zeitaufwendig und aufwendig. Das sorgf\u00e4ltige Schneiden jedes Millimeters Stoff von Hand f\u00fchrt zu einer t\u00e4glichen Produktion von 30 bis 80 Zentimetern Samt.<\/p>\n

Hand-woven velvets are our most precious creations. We still weave them on 18th-century looms, and even the warps are prepared on machines dating back to the same era, silent witnesses to an art that has survived the test of time. Among these extraordinary fabrics, the most precious is soprarizzo, also known as soprarizzo or chiseled velvet. Its name evokes its distinctive structure: two layers of pile, one high and smooth, the other lower and curled. No mechanical loom can reproduce this effect. Only the hand, guided by centuries of accumulated knowledge, can bring it to life. Today, only a handful of weavers in the world still possess this mastery.<\/span><\/p>

WHAT IS SOPRARIZZO VELVET<\/h2>

The Soprarizzo velvet is the most complex of the operated velvets because it consists of the cut velvet at the top, which defines the pattern, and the curly velvet at the bottom, which forms the background velvet. The two layers also differ in colour: the cut velvet is darker, the curly velvet lighter. Every millimetre of the first layer is cut by hand by the weavers.<\/p>

Our handmade velvets and other fabrics boast patterns drawn from our extensive archives, spanning from Byzantine art to Art Deco, with a total of 3,500 designs. We regularly update their colours to suit modern tastes, and we also create new designs in collaboration with our customers.<\/p>

EIGHTEENTH-CENTURY LOOMS AND MACHINERY<\/h2>

We are proud to produce handmade velvets on eighteenth-century looms<\/strong>, the same looms Luigi Bevilacqua recovered in 1875 from the Silk School of the Serenissima. We also use the same machinery to prepare the warp threads.<\/p>

THE JACQUARD MACHINE<\/h2>

Initially, looms were operated manually, which made producing complex fabrics a time-consuming process. However, at the beginning of the nineteenth century, the Jacquard machine was invented, which revolutionised the world of weaving. This machine automatically moves the warp threads that create the pattern. While this innovation greatly increased the productivity of weavers, the process of soprarizzo velvet remains time-consuming and intricate. The meticulous hand-cutting of each millimetre of fabric results in a daily production of between 30 and 80 centimetres of velvet.<\/p>
